Job Summary:

Position Title: Vice President (VP) of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM)



 



Job Summary: The Vice President (VP) of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end revenue cycle processes within the organization. This includes ensuring the efficient management of billing, collections, coding, patient registration, insurance verification, and compliance to maximize revenue, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction. The VP works closely with leadership across finance, operations, and clinical teams to align revenue cycle strategies with organizational goals.



 



Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:



 



Develop and implement a comprehensive revenue cycle strategy aligned with organizational objectives.



Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of revenue cycle processes.



Lead efforts to innovate and modernize revenue cycle operations through technology, automation, and data-driven decision-making.



Partner with other executives to create and execute initiatives that support long-term growth and financial sustainability.



 



Operations Management:



 



Oversee all aspects of the revenue cycle, including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, payment posting, denial management, and collections.



Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims and management of accounts receivable.



Monitor trends in denials, collections, and reimbursements to identify opportunities for improvement.



Optimize workflows to improve cash flow and reduce days in accounts receivable (AR).



 



Compliance and Risk Management:



 



Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements.



Mitigate risks associated with coding errors, audits, and underpayment by maintaining robust audit processes and staff training programs.



Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry trends affecting revenue cycle operations.



 



 



Team Leadership and Development:



 



Build and lead a high-performing revenue cycle team, including directors and managers of various RCM functions.



Provide mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities to staff.



Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.



 



Financial and Data Analysis:



 



Monitor and analyze financial data to identify revenue cycle challenges and opportunities.



Provide detailed financial reporting to senior leadership, highlighting trends, performance metrics, and actionable insights.



Collaborate with IT teams to ensure systems support data accuracy and reporting capabilities.



 



Stakeholder Collaboration:



 



Partner with clinical, operational, and financial teams to streamline processes and improve patient satisfaction.



Engage with external stakeholders, such as payers, vendors, and consultants, to negotiate favorable contracts and resolve disputes.



Qualifications:

Education:



Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field (required).



Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.



 



Experience:



Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in revenue cycle management, preferably in healthcare or a related field.



Proven track record of improving revenue cycle performance in a complex, multi-facility environment.



Experience with healthcare revenue cycle technologies (e.g., EHR, practice management systems).



 



Skills and Competencies:



Expertise in revenue cycle processes, payer reimbursement, and regulatory compliance.



Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.



Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.



Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.



Proficiency in financial and operational reporting tools.



 



Work Environment:



The VP of Revenue Cycle Management typically operates in a corporate or healthcare environment, with occasional travel to facilities or payer meetings as required.

Days in accounts receivable (AR)



Denial rates and resolution times



Cash collections as a percentage of net revenue



Patient satisfaction scores related to billing and financial interactions



Compliance audit outcomes
