Purpose of the Role

To assist the Quality Manager in managing and continually improving Quality and Food Safety systems, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety
· Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies at all times.
· Challenge or alert a manager if unauthorised individuals are present without proper identification.
· Maintain the safety of your work area and ensure proper use of PPE.
· Report accidents or near misses immediately and complete safety observations using the Kangoo system.

Food Safety & Hygiene
· Ensure compliance with Company Food Safety, GMP, and Hygiene policies.
· Adopt a 'clean as you go' policy and ensure the cleanliness of your work area.
· Support the Quality Technologist with factory and silo cleaning management.

Quality Management
· Carry out internal audits, traceability tests, and factory inspections.
· Manage the release of raw materials and finished products, including positive release protocols.
· Investigate non-conformities and customer complaints, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
· Support the integration of new standards (BRC, ISO, group, customer) into internal procedures.
· Conduct taste panels and monitor product quality through inspections and trend analysis.

Teamwork and Leadership
· Work collaboratively with the Quality and Operations teams.
· Deputise for colleagues as needed, including covering product release duties on Saturdays and bank holidays.
· Assist in preparing for audits and customer visits.

Continuous Improvement
· Identify opportunities for quality and safety system enhancements through data analysis and shop-floor observations.
· Lead or participate in Continuous Improvement projects to drive operational excellence.

Skills and Competencies

Essential:
· HACCP Level 2 and Food Safety Level 3 certifications.
· Knowledge of quality and food safety standards (e.g., BRC, ISO).
· Strong IT skills, including Excel macros, Access, and PowerPoint.
· Ability to analyse data, solve problems, and implement solutions.
· Excellent communication skills with a team-focused attitude.

Desirable:
· HND/Degree in Food Technology or equivalent experience.
· Internal auditing training and experience.
