Sharper Consulting Services are recruiting for an experienced Trading Standards Officer to support a London based local authority.

The role involves enforcing consumer protection laws, conducting investigations, and taking enforcement actions to ensure compliance with trading standards legislation.

Contract Length: Approximately 3 months

Rate: £38 - £45 per hour (Umbrella)

Key Responsibilities:

* Investigate complaints and breaches of trading standards legislation, including enforcement of weights and measures regulations and tackling counterfeit goods.

* Undertake inspections of businesses to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

* Collect evidence, prepare case files, and deliver enforcement actions, including issuing notices and prosecutions.

* Provide advice and guidance to businesses and consumers on trading standards matters.

* Represent the authority in court proceedings and other legal hearings.

* Collaborate with partner agencies to tackle fraudulent activities and promote fair trading.

Essential Requirements:

* Substantial experience as a Trading Standards Officer or in a similar enforcement-focused role.

* In-depth knowledge of trading standards legislation and enforcement practices.

* Proven ability to investigate complex cases, manage evidence, and prepare cases for legal action.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Experience in working with partner organizations and stakeholders.

* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable)
