The Opportunity - Design Manager:
Join our client’s team as a Design Manager, where you will play a crucial role in shaping exciting projects across the region. As a key member of the senior project team, you will oversee the design function, working closely with both internal and external teams on live projects. Your expertise will also be vital in supporting the Work Winning Department to secure future projects through compelling tenders.

Key Accountabilities - Design Manager:

Develop innovative low-carbon design solutions that meet client briefs, collaborating with the project team and subcontractors.
Build strong relationships with design partners, ensuring deliverables are met, costs are managed, and buildability is assessed.
Engage with clients during the early concept stages, managing expectations through regular communication about project requirements.
Lead design team meetings and workshops, facilitating discussions that produce cost-effective solutions tailored to procurement and construction needs.
Act as the design liaison for the project team, addressing queries and promoting collaboration among clients, subcontractors, and professionals.
Manage design complexities in relation to Employer’s Requirements and Contractors' Proposals, ensuring compliance and quality.
Apply value engineering principles throughout the design phase, staying updated on the latest construction techniques and legislation.
Ensure alignment of scope sheets with duties schedules to inform design and procurement programmes.
Monitor the design process using KPIs, ensuring timely information flow from consultants and subcontractors.
Identify potential interface challenges and work with the design team and specialist subcontractors to resolve issues.
Manage the timely flow of as-built information from the design partner to the project team during the close-out process.
Participate in subcontractor selection interviews and review subcontract enquiries for designed packages. Competency Requirements - Design Manager:

Excellent communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with strong planning, reporting, and project management skills.
An analytical mindset focused on problem-solving and client relationships.
Ability to make informed decisions and coordinate effectively within a team.
Willingness to work across various locations, including contractors', clients', and designers' offices, as well as site visits when necessary.
Proven leadership skills and proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Familiarity with project management software such as P6 or Microsoft Project is desirable. Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications - Design Manager:

Strong technical construction knowledge and experience with various design standards (e.g., WIMES, Client Standards).
A degree in a relevant construction subject, with professional qualifications such as C.Eng or MCIOB being advantageous. What my client can offer in return - Design Manager:
