Managing Quantity Surveyor - £75k - £85k+ DOE + £7k Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits

Office Based with Some Travel to Site

5D are delighted to be working with a well established and very well respected consultancy who specialize in the project management of large scale industrial and commercial construction projects.

They are experts at managing a complete process from land identification, commercial negotiations, right through to the pre-construction, and construction phases, and are appointed fund managers for a number of their key clients.

Established for nearly 20 years, and due to an internal promotion, we are looking to recruit an aspiring managing quantity surveyor who wants to progress to commercial manager, and eventually commercial director level.

What the day-to-day role will Involve:

* Preparation of the sub-contract/supplier enquiry lists for approval.

* Preparing full enquiry packs and collating all tender information, ensuring fully, compliant tender packs are issued, return tenders are analysed and compliant bids received.

* Negotiation of contracts with new and existing suppliers.

* Preparing detailed breakdowns of build costs and include within New Site Start Appraisal.

* Ensuring new sub-contractors are on the SMAS database and that the certification is up to date.

* Ensuring sub-contractor weekly and monthly applications for payment are analysed, checked and interim payments are prepared for approval in line with Authorisation Levels and Commercial Procedure.

* Monitoring contracts throughout the project for scope creep and variance.

* Issuing variation instructions and contract charges as appropriate.

* Attending site meetings with customers and contractors.

* Working with JCT and NEC contracts.

* Taking the lead on QS issues, and being the point of escalation for any issues for the team.

What we are Looking for in the Successful Candidate:

* 5 years’ post graduate experience in a QS, cost management, managing QS or commercial managers position.

* Experience in managing multiple contractors during projects.

* You must have experience in an industrial or commercial environment, and have ideally worked for a consultant, developer, or contractor.

* Degree qualified in a relevant subject.

* Clear, confident communicator, with a proactive approach to projects and problem solving.

* Career driven, we are looking for a candidate who wants to progress to a senior position.

* Must hold a full, UK driving licence.
