We are currently recruiting for a specialist secondary school for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We support young people with a range of special needs, including ASD, ODD, trauma, and other emotional challenges. Our dedicated team is committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a TA, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to help students with SEMH and associated needs. You will assist in delivering tailored learning plans, ensuring that each student has the support they need to succeed. You will play a key role in fostering positive relationships, promoting student well-being, and helping to create a safe and structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEMH, including ASD, ODD, and trauma-related needs.
Assist in the delivery of personalized learning plans and adapt teaching methods to suit individual student requirements.
Help manage challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive manner, using strategies to de-escalate situations when needed.
Support students in building social skills, emotional regulation, and coping mechanisms.
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to monitor student progress and adjust strategies as necessary.
Encourage student participation in class activities, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Assist with general classroom duties, including preparing materials and supporting administrative tasks.Essential Skills & Experience:

Experience working with young people with SEMH, ASD, ODD, or trauma-related needs, ideally in an educational setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students who may display challenging behaviour.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a flexible and solution-focused attitude.
A commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
Knowledge of or a willingness to learn about therapeutic interventions, sensory needs, and emotional regulation strategies.Desirable Qualifications:

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
Training or experience in behaviour management strategies or trauma-informed practice.
Experience in supporting students with additional needs, such as ASD and ADHD.Why Join Us?
